I’ve been feeling like I haven’t been reaching my goals as efficiently as before. So here are some advice's and habits to mould you in being productive:
Maximize your baseline energy levels
Basically telling you to achieve a small goal, something that’s important to you, to have a sense of achievement at the start of your day. It will no doubt make you feel good and increase your energy levels and drive you toward more productivity.
Do the most important thing first thing in the morning, and don’t check social media until you’ve done it
According to the article, the first actions of the day matter the most and build up your energy for the rest of the day. If you achieve a small goal at the start of your day it’s more likely that you’ll have a positive and productive attitude for the rest of your day other than that we usually wake up and the first thing we do is scroll through social media, the outline is that its a bad idea and encourages that we can instead reward ourselves with a bit of scrolling after we have completed our task and of course, consistency is emphasized throughout.
Tell the right stories about yourself
Your energy levels can be increased or decreased by what you tell yourself, if you’re telling yourself that you are an energetic person, you might become an energetic person with time. If you tell yourself you don’t get jetlagged, you might get less jetlagged. Although this sounds easy to convince yourself, I’d argue otherwise, maybe you can increase your energy levels by psyops yourself into believing something but I’m not sure its quite efficient, I’d rather an advise on eating healthy and exercising to build your energy levels instead.
Don’t sleep too much
Well, this one’s obvious Too many cons and barely any pros of oversleeping. The cons: Your time is wasted, and staying in bed for too long actually decreases your energy levels and makes you lazy. You get behind your work and so much more. I personally have a bad habit of oversleeping and I’m trying to change it, my routine is effed up and it's one of the reasons for my low energy levels and falling behind my goals and inconsistent progress.
the habit of Fermi estimation
This quality doesn’t come in handy, it means that you check up on facts when someone is telling you something and do not believe everything a person says. Engineers and physicists are trained to do this and everyone else has to learn, This skill is called as Fermi estimation. Mostly, people don’t think in numbers and that’s why they are easily fooled. A great example is given in the article, if you want to understand fermi estimation more, make sure to go through it.
Whenever you make a claim or an argument, try and imagine the strongest possible argument against it.
I feel like this is a skill that one might learn from playing games, to calculate the other player’s move and best move perhaps in order to counter it and give your best before-hand. for example, In chess the strongest players mentally check their opponent’s strongest moves and this mentality allows them to pick their strongest move before-hand. Another example being in competitive gun games, you calculate and strategize your strategies according to how your opponent’s will respond because of a certain strategy they are playing with. This technique can be applied in real life arguments as well which most people fail to do as if their brains resists the mental training of modeling their opponent as strong too, because of this block the brain fails to calculate the opponent’s potential and resources.
Write regularly, and learn to ‘think in writing’.
This one’s for everyone, whether you want to be a writer or not, whether you want it published or not. Write a page daily, call it your brain dump and write down all your thoughts and processes and ‘empty’ out your brain. This habit helps in de-clogging your brain and makes space for new thoughts and processes. It gives you clarity on what to do next.
Map out problems using logic trees
Lastly, A classic problem-solving and brainstorming technique. Write down a problem and map out your solutions and your available options. A map of possibilities, mapping it out makes it easier to choose the best route by weighing in all our options, also the pros and cons of a certain option. This process is extremely useful and helps a lot in solving business problems
Conclusion
If someone follows this advice or adopts these habits surely he will find the way towards betterment and can easily acquire the goals he/she is aiming for.
